A freed bird

The bird was so beautiful with very fine plumage. “A very rare bird” indeed would be more suited to describe it. However, a very mean man found the bird and caged it for over decades since he did not like others admiring it. “Did he like it?” one might question. He did not like it at all but he was all the time jealous of the bird just only because people liked it so much.

One day the man thought people would appreciate the bird much less after being kept for decades. Out of curiosity, he wanted to test how people would react if the bird were freed. He decided and let it free. He also thought since the bird had been caged and not flown for many years, it would not be able to fly far. The beauty of the bird’s plumage had waned a little, and so the man also thought people would not appreciate it as much as they used to.

The man was quite right. Before nearly all people who love the truth and who have the heart to appreciate real beauty in life admired the bird. Now that the bird has been freed, people look at the bird with different views. Some people still appreciate it with full admiration. Some say the bird has aged, and it has almost lost her beauty. Some do not even care about it anymore even saying it is pointless to pay attention to just a bird.

Why can’t we all at least look from a brighter side at this moment? Should we all not be happy now that the bird is free? Should we all not feel gratified that we can appreciate the beauty of the freed bird now? What if the man changed his mind and put the bird back in the cage? After all, the bird is a living thing, and all living things in life enjoy freedom.
